      Extended Features Set

VCS-Apt is a subset of the powerful Apt CNC programming language with the additional productivity of the Extended Features Set (EFS). The EFS simplifies many complex programming problems and greatly improves programmer productivity. These features may not be available in most other versions of APT.

Some of the Extended Features Set features are;

  • Basic-Like GOSUB and RETURN statements
  • Multi-Label JUMPTO statement (Computed JUMPTO)
  • Logical IF statement, such as: IF (A .LT. B) JUMPTO/......,
    or IF (A < B) JUMPTO/....
  • REDEF statement for re-definition of geometry elements
  • SHAPE feature which provides for cutting a complete part profile with one motion statement. Even avoids areas of the SHAPE where the cutter will not fit, insuring gouge-free tool paths. The defined SHAPE may be cut forward or backward with the tool offset to the left or right.
  • THREAD/AUTO for automated generation of threading cycles on lathes.
  • LATHE/ROUGH for automated generation of cutting passes to cut an area between two SHAPEs. One SHAPE represents the part before machining and the other SHAPE represents the finished part shape. Roughing cuts may be programmed parallel to the center line in either a turning or boring sequence.
  • BSURF for the cutting of irregular surfaces. The surface is described by cross-section profiles,
  • Additional miscellaneous software tools.
  • Interface to CADD files (DXF).
  • READ statement to process external files such as Apt source code, that is output by CAD systems or standard Apt source code snippits.
