Frequently Asked Questions

Following are some of the frequently asked questions, with our answers.
  • Why are you offering a FREE version of VCS?
We want to keep the use of scripting languages for CNC programming alive. Graphic CNC progrmming is fast gaining popularity but the use of scripting languages (Apt, Compact II, etc.) still has a significant place in today's manufacturing. Also, I want to determine the level of interest in further developing this VCS software and modernizing the old scripting languages (Apt, Compact II, etc.) for today's needs.
  • Where can I get documentation for VCS-Apt?
We are currently working on completing the electronic documentation for VCS. Updated versions of the CHM files will be available for download from this Web site. Check here for the latest version of these files.
  • Where/how do I get custom postprocessors?
CNC Focus will provide information and skeleton postprocessors demonstrating the interface to VCS upon your request. This material is currently being developed and may not be immediately available.

I hope to be able to compile a list of qualified postprocessor developers for your use. If you know of anyone who is interested in being included in this list please, ask them to contact CNC Focus.

Also, CNC Focus will be happy to quote on your requirements.
  • What if I need a more powerful programming system than VCS-Apt?
VCS-Apt is a subset of Apt, the most powerful scripting language for CNC programming, with some powerful productivity features added. VCS totally satisfies the needs of many users. If you later need to upgrade to a full Apt implementation, all VCS-Apt programs are very compatible. Even if some of your current needs require more programming power, much of your work can be handled with VCS-Apt and it's much more productive. Also, VCS is so affordable that it makes sense to have VCS in your programmers toolbox for special needs.
  • What is the best way for me to learn Apt?
I don't know if there is a "best" way or not but there are many books available on the Apt language. Although, these books were probably written long ago, the basic Apt language hasn't changed in more than 40 years. I would suggest a Google or Amazon search for CNC books.
  • What if I have a programming question?
CNC Focus will provide assistance to all Registered customers. The best way to obtain programming help is to attach your part program, if you have one, to an e-mail message that completely explains your problem.
  • What types of payment are acceptable?
You may register through our online Order Fullfilment company, BMT Micro, Inc. (BMT), BMT provides secure online ordering and accepts many forms of payment, in any currency. Also, you may order via Postal Mail and pay with cash, check (USA Banks) or Money Order.
Purchase orders are accepted from Dunn & Bradstreet rated companies.
  • How long will it take to receive my Registration Code?
Your Registration Code will be sent via Email in 2-3 business days after receipt of the order.
  • What if I don't want to order, but I just have a question?
    Send e-mail here.
  • What if I need to inquire about my order?
Send order inquiries to here .
